PUBLIC ART SCULPTURES IN FLORIDA USA
RIVERVIEW FOUNDER BENJAMIN MOODY
On grand display at the entrance to the much-anticipated Pebble Creek conservation park in Riverview is a statute of the town’s founder, Benjamin Moody.
The statute sits in the center of the traffic circle roundabout that gives entrance to the 27-acre conservation park, which features a quarter-mile paved walking trail, a .5-mile natural surface hiking trail, three large pavilions with picnic tables and two native-planted areas with a pollinator garden. Future plans for the pet-friendly park call for a walkway overlooking the Alafia River.
The park’s grand opening has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Nov. 17 at 9955 Riverview Drive.
Hillsborough County commissioners at their Aug. 17, 2019, meeting, issued a call for artists to submit their designs for the Moody sculpture. Artist Geza Gaspar of Venice, Fla., submitted the winning proposal. According to project documents, the partner is Bronzart Foundry, Inc., based in Sarasota.
MOUNTAIN BICYCLIST USA FL 2021
Hillsborough County commissioned Florida-based artist Geza Gaspar last year from eight artists who submitted proposals. Gaspar’s creation, titled Mountain Bicyclist, depicts a mountain biker in motion atop a cement podium with engraved messages on each of the four sides. The artwork is fitting since Hawkstone is located just a mile south of the bicycle motocross at Triple Creek BMX, and a few miles further from the Balm Boyette Scrub Nature Preserve in Wimauma and Alafia River State Park in Lithia. All are very popular destinations for mountain bikers.

MONUMENT HONORS LEGACY OF INDIAN SHORES’ INDIGENOUS PEOPLES 2022
Set to be unveiled Thursday, June 16th at 10 AM, the project will feature a plaza with a grand arch, informational kiosks, sundial, benches and a bronze sculpture depicting a male, female and a grandmother holding a baby based on the town’s logo. The memorial will serve as a place for the community to gather and reflect on the rich history of the Tocobaga. The site will also be home to a new sidewalk sponsored by the resort to provide a guided walking path with direct beach access, along with signage sharing a Land Acknowledgement statement. The overall design of the plaza was created by local artist Steve Graff and the bronze sculpture was hand crafted by Geza Gaspar. Construction was handled by Tampa-based firm SIGNSTAR. Funding for the project was generously provided by Penny for Pinellas, the Town of Indian Shores and Legacy Vacation Resorts – Indian Shores.
